4 day old Belgian Draft Horse Foal

This is one of the Belgian babies… She is 4 days old in this picture. What a charmer, eh? BTW, the black horse in the closeup (the one I’m talking to through the clip), nudging me for attention is MY horse, Princess (shortly to be re-named…lol!). She’s a year old, not quite ready for full training yet.

They are such cute horses… All of them! And that foal is somethin’ else. How cute! My Gypsy Vanner, Maybeline she is 4 months old and extremely playful. Something about your foal reminded me of her but I don’t know what. Haha. Well anyways, great video! Cute horses! :)

Your horses are beautiful! The first Belgians I ever saw, up close, were in Denham Springs, LA where they were used primarily to pull wagons. (At least while I was there.)

We went out into the field with two of the largest foals I’ve ever seen in my life, a one month old and a three month old. Both of them were like giant puppies, begging you to pet them, shoving themselves up under your arms to get your arm around them. I was in heaven!!

Hi! Princess is 1/2 Belgian and 1/2 Morgan. Not sure how that came about really, except that Mike is a stud who likes to get around, and there are more than a few youngsters around the place that don’t always close gates. :) She’s only a year and some, but she looks like she’ll be on the smallish side when she’s done. Her half brother Peanut, is a year older, and definitely follows the Draft side of the family. :)

:) I’m still a little nervous around the stud horse. My husband isn’t, but he (the stud, not my husband…lol) rolls his eye at me and towers, and I’m just a smidge intimidated. :) Thanks!

Geeze I want to come see this place! I absolutely love Belgians! My heart was captured by one and I’ll never stop loving belgians because of him!

Thanks! It’s something else to see them running free on the 100 acres over winter time, with Mike, the stallion, large and in charge of all his “women,” and in the spring, with all the babies… :) If you squint your eyes and imagine, it’s almost as if you’re seeing free, wild horses, albeit really BIG ones…lol!

This is a great collection of these wonderful, gentle, giant horses. And what a beautiful foal! Thank you for sharing.
