I really want a Belgian Draft Horse?

I don’t know what it is about Belgian Draft Horses, but I absolutely love draft horses. I am 5″4″,, 103 pounds, and one day I hope to get a Belgian Draft Horse. The only thing is, would it really suit me? What is your experiences riding a Belgian Draft Horse? What are your opinions about a small person riding a big horse? I mean, draft horses aren’t only tall, they are also solid horses.

* It doesnt matter the size of the person, but rather the size of the horses heart!*

I like them too
I bought my boy last year and 2 weeks later went to an auction and they had a 5 year old working belgian draft for sale with a baby by her side. She was broke to ride and do fields. She went for
$400.00 with the baby. I wanted her badly and my husband said NO! We have to many now lol. I like the solid feel of them while riding. Not as smooth but no reason to complain.

They are great horses, all the Belgians I have known have been total sweethearts! I really don’t think your size would be a problem. I used to ride them when I was about 12yrs old. It’s really the horse’s temperament at the heart of that issue. I say go for it!!

i have own my belgian for goin on 2 years and she is great she has so much love in her and they can do everything!! my horse barrels jumps and can ride on the flat your size doesnt matter to them and the most important thing is if u have a younger horse they are a bit clumsy but not enough to fall to the ground
my belgian fell while i was riding her and i almost fell off cause i wasnt paying attention and she tossed her head up and throw me bgack into the saddle like saying dont fall i love you and ever since that day i knew she was mine

i LOVE bigger horses i feel more secure. i’d say go for it if you can control it, no problem with your size.

I love drafts i can see a problem with getting one and you riding one. I have a draft cross and she is about 15.1 Percheron x Morgan.
