put your hand onthe ankle and just give a slight lift.
if you keep doing this, the horse will left the leg when it trusts you completely.

I think you run your hand down the leg, and then pinch (gently) the achilles heel, and they will shift the weight off that leg, so you can pick up their foot (like to clean the frog)

If you are halter training the horse, pull the rope across the ankle.

Step on it’s toe, or give it a lot of water to drink.

after making your self friendly with the horse by rubbing it a few minutes calmly run your hand down the back part if it’s leg, until you get to the “knee” from the front with the other hand place it below the “knee” and gently press… as in to put on a new shoe or to remove something from it’s shoe… the key is to stay calm and incontrol the horse as to trust you

brand him/her… but beware because the leg lifted may come directly towards your head.

In order to get a horse to lift it’s leg, you stand by the horse’s shoulder and run your hand over his leg. The horse should then lift his foot up.
