I want to take my BF horseback riding but I wasn’t sure what size horse would be best for him?! Draft horse? Quarter Horse?

I think you would want a draft type - maybe Irish draft or Clydesdale or a draft cross, somewhere around 17 hands or so.

Anything over 15.3 will work as long as the horse is stocky enough. Height is important but maybe even more so is the build of the horse. But since your BF is tall you will want something at least 15.3 if possible even taller to make his ride more comfortable.
I would recommend something like a Halflinger or other bigger draft horses. If you can’t find anything like that a Quarter horse could work at 15.3 + as long as it is solidly built and strong.
Hope you both have a good time!
